TORRANCE, Calif. — Lexus says the new 2011 LS 460 Touring Edition package, which will be available by early July, is intended to "attract younger buyers to the LS lineup." The car is priced from $73,875, which includes an $875 shipping charge.
Lexus said the Touring Edition will be available on both rear- and all-wheel-drive versions of the LS 460.
Features include a sport kit and grille, as well as a Smoky Granite Mica interior, with black-and-tan leather-trimmed sport seats, wood- and leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob, premium floor mats and matte-brown wood trim.
The rear-wheel-drive LS 460 Touring Edition gets 19-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, while the AWD model gets 18s.
Inside Line says: If by younger, they mean 50s, we get it. But the 30-something crowd is still likely to find it difficult to pony-up for a $70K Lexus LS sedan.

Isn't the (late) Phaeton a steel bodied twin to the aluminum A8?
The Acura NSX is called a Honda NSX in markets outside the US.

Who said it was about payments, its about whatever means that a person chooses to pay for a car in this segment. Either way the Lexus is still cheaper, not to mention less attractive, slower, sloppier handling, and amazingly less reliable. There is no reason to drop 70 to nearly 100K on this Fancy Toyota anymore. A SWB LS460 is still a 70K car and you still can't touch a S550 for that. If price didn't matter then Lexus would price higher

Well, looks good! However, I noticed that this LS460 looks like the BMW7 series. I'm just disappointed why they come-up with the same design of other car firms. Lexus should come-up a new cool and attractive designs that anyone look for. It would be better if they will think carefully before doing anything!..

kaidan33, your "unbiased credibility" just about went out the window if you think Lexus LS460 has better quality interior materials and attention to detail than a Bentley or Rolls-Royce or Aston Martin. I think your Lexus bias has clouded your judgement.

@ 'blackdynamite0' - "aston - I didn't tell you to speak"
Oh, really? How ARROGANT... WHO THE F$#@ YOU THINK YOU ARE? The Queen of England?
You 'didn't tell me to speak'?!?
I have been in car business since 1993, when I started learning from my Dad and his friends.
I have test driven most of the models in the market today (have you?) and I can honestly say that I am NOT BIAS toward any of the make and model (EXCEPT you know what: Aston Martin - I just LOVE their gorgeous designs)
I will give EACH make and model credit WHERE and WHEN its due.
While Lexus may have win reliability and its impeccable build quality, IMHO, the exterior AND interior design falls below my standard (Audi, Porsche and Acura - TL, RL, ZDX)
But that's not the worst thing: its ride (except maybe LF-A - haven't test driven that one)
IS-F almost broke my back, ES is just purely bland, GS is so-so, and LS...?
Like a huge boat floating on the road... bland and soulless...
(A colleague works for Lexus even admitted that the LS cannot beat 7 or S class handling... I truly honor his opinion and honesty...)
So, while everybody is entitled to their opinion,
'blackdynamite0', don't you #$%^* dare to tell me that YOUR opinions are the only ones who are correct...
How Arrogant...

Jeremy
Thanks for your anecdote
Where did Lexus really get the bulk of it's market share from?
Disgruntled German luxury car owners, looking for the truly luxurious combination of reliable engineering, true value, refined performance, and tasteful design
The secret to Lexus' success really lies in Germany.
Lexus cars have always been better built, and the first LS and Lexus Coupe were FAR better cars than anything out of Germany. But over time, it's the enduring quality that keep current customers coming back, and feeds a steady stream of conquest sales, year after year.
THAT'S a comparison test the Germans have never won

Anyone else think that bestjinno is a German car salesman? Sounds like he is trying real hard to tout the corporate lines.
At the end of the day, we can argue all we want, but consumers vote with their money. Europeans have the advantage of perceived prestigeous brands but that can only go so far. My boss bought a brand new SL63 3 months ago. With less than 2000 miles, it failed to start twice, once after a very exclusive charity ball which embarassed the hell out of him, and strangely a lot of the guests there who witnessed this were not surprised. In fact, same things happened to a number of them who had Jags, Audi. He is now battling the dealership and MB USA. His next car is not going to be a MB.
I am going to print bestjinjo's comments and hand them to the next guy in a BMW, Audi or MB who is stranded on the side of the road!

bestjinjo, I think I'm done here. All you have are pictures to go on and comparison tests. Sit in (the back of) an LS460 then talk. Until then all you will have are wallpapers. Sad but true.

BD: "Just asking that question shows how little you know about luxury cars
Nice!"
That's interesting. Is that how car enthusiasts reacted when the first LS was unveiled in US in 1989? I sense an irony here. You completely discredited the Equus for trying to enter the luxury segment as a "wanna-be" and yet when the LS first entered the US market it was just a glorified Toyota. Thanks for continuing to attack me personally while providing little to no credible claims as to why the LS460 is the best car in its class.
In case you are wondering, C&D didn't even bother including it in their recent Luxury Car road test: http://www.bmwblog.com/2011/04/30/cd-2011-audi-a8l-vs-2011-bmw-750li-2011-jaguar-xjl-supercharged/
Even with the Sports Package, the LS460 failed to offset the 7 series or the A8 in MotorTrend's latest luxury road test: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/sedans/1103_entry_level_fullsize_luxury_sedan_comparison/lexus_ls_460.html
I bet if they tested an S550 (rather than the questionable S400 Hybrid), Lexus would have found itself even lower than 4th place.
kaidan33: "class, comfort, reliability, and an attention to detail that is second to none."
Attention to detail second to none? You must be joking.

Have you ever heard of Aston Martin: http://sportcarspic.com/wp-content/uploads/2010-aston-martin-v12-vantage-interior11-4dde62d3e68e6.jpg
But even compared to its primary competitors like the A8: http://carguideblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011-Audi-A8-L-4.jpg
or the Jaguar XJL: http://carsinteriors.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/jaguar-xj-interior-4-lg.jpg
The Lexus' interior is MILES & MILES behind both in design and interior quality of materials.
If you think its interior comes close to the A8 or the Jaguar, you must be the most loyal Lexus fan.
Attention to detail is something you could ascribe to an Aston Martin DB9 with its glass speedo needles and start button, or Bentley or Rolls-Royce with matching leather cowhides or hand polished wood. Lexus? . . .
Class? Sorry to break it to you, but none of the cars in this class have the exclusivity and panache factor of the S-Class.
