TORRANCE, California — Toyota has rolled out the 2010 Lexus LS 460 with a redesigned appearance, up-to-date telematics and electronics systems and a new optional Sport package for the rear-wheel-drive versions of the flagship sedans.
The LS 460's prices go up $875 for the standard model and down an impressive $3,510 for the LS 460L from 2009. The LS 460 with rear-wheel drive is priced at $65,555 and the AWD version is $69,060. The LS 460L RWD model costs $71,080, and the all-wheel-drive LS 460L is priced at $74,625. All prices include $855 destination.
The 2010 LS 460 gets a revised grille, bumper and headlamps in front, exhaust diffusers and revised taillamps in back and new 18-inch wheels with a new 10-spoke design.
The new Sport package, for rear-wheel-drive models only, has air suspension tuning, Brembo brakes, aerodynamic body add-ons and a set of 19-inch wheels in a split 10-spoke design. The interior is in two-tone black/saddle leather with sport front seats, leather-trimmed steering wheel and paddle shifters. The appearance features are available as a stand-alone option without the tuning features.
The LS 460 has a 4.6-liter V8 engine, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, and makes 380 horsepower and 367 pound-feet of torque (357 hp and 344 lb-ft for the AWD model). It gets an EPA-estimated 16 miles per gallon in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.
Advanced Pre-Collision (APCS) with a Driver Monitor System is new on the LS 460 for 2010. The system, which Lexus calls "the world's first active pedestrian" safety system, was first introduced on the 2009 Pebble Beach Edition 600h L. It involves the use of two cameras mounted at the front of the vehicle that work with radar to detect pedestrians and react by braking when needed. The "driver monitor" feature uses a steering-wheel-mounted camera to observe the orientation of the driver's face and warn him or her with chimes and flashing lights in case of inattention.
A free one-year trial of Lexus's Safety Connect and Enform telematics systems is included on all models. LS 460s with the optional navigation system get Enform with Safety Connect in a premium subscription version. All models also get updated Lexus Premium Audio with an optional hard-disc-drive navigation system, along with the expected raft of luxury and convenience features.

The photo captions are backwards. Anyway, the LS460 Sport really does look tragic. There's something very Camry SE-like about those rocker moldings, etc. Very unfortunate.
