TOKYO — Lexus is getting down to the nitty-gritty details with its highly anticipated LFA V10 supercar, saying on Wednesday at the official launch of the car at the 2009 Tokyo Auto Show that it will limit the production run to just 500 units worldwide. It also said the manufacturer's suggested price is about $375,000.
It also said it will roll out "additional models," including a model with "special color selection" and a model "tuned to be more circuit-suited." It said production of both of those would begin at the start of 2012.
Pre-sales of the LFA began today. Lexus said the production/sales period will run from December 2010 to December 2012.
The LFA, which sprints from zero to 60 mph in less than 3.7 seconds, is equipped with a 552-horsepower 4.8-liter V10 engine and a six-speed automated sequential gearbox. Lexus describes it as "the pinnacle of the Lexus 'F' premium sports car series."
A prototype of the LFA is on display at the 2009 Tokyo Auto Show.
Inside Line says: The take-away here is that the LFA is going to be expensive and difficult to come by, unless you get your order in ASAP. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent

The GTR is still faster than the LFA around the NUR-RING. The LFA may even be a better all round car, but now even the Vspec GTR seems like a hell of a deal...

It is no doubt an incredible driving machine, for over 350k, it'd better be. But it completely lacks the seductiveness of the European exotics. Should be interesting how well this will sell outside of Japan.

Because its super exclusive only 500 total made, its not for the mass public but the halo car for all future "F" cars. When they start coming out with future F cars they will be more approriatley priced

There are only few good looking supercars out there, LFA is included. Gallardo, F430, SLR 722, SLS, LFA. ( not to mention Reventon, bcus it's beyond beautiful) IMO.

WHY WHY WHY 375,000 dollars. For a supercar it seems like you can get just as much with a GTR for almost 300k less.
