The only thing thats wrong with this car is that they put a Lexus badge on it. This car isn't supposed to be your grandpa's daily driver. This car is a street legal F1 race car.It is Toyota's highest expression of automotive technology and engineering available to the consumer.
I don't even really care for Toyotas, but this car is something else. Something wicked and awesome.

This is just one of those cars that looks better in real life and the closer you get the better it looks. I'm not too keen on the triple exhaust tips which I believe are fed from two pipes which empty into a single unit which has 3 tips on it. It is hard to get excited about a Lexus supercar just because Lexus has a reputation for making such boring cars. Even fast cars like the is-f just aren't right. However, i have no doubt that the lf-a is a great supercar and will have no trouble selling the limited amount of cars Lexus will prduce.

to weirdfishes:
I agree with you on your positive points on the car, but it's a car i'm still having a hard time getting excited about. I know I should like it....I should love, but I don't. Not even a little. Not yet. I keep looking at photographs and all I feel is "bleh."
And you're right about pedigree. I believe in driving a car the way it's meant to be driven and not being all timid with it. But how many people who buy this car are going to really take it to the limit? And if I'm that worried about reliability, why not just save my greenbacks and buy a Camry?
Ok no joke...I was just going over pics of the LF-A again and yawned. And it just happened again!

Pedigree and history has to start somewhere. And for Toyota, that somewhere is the LF-A. They've had the Supra and the IS-F, but nothing in this ballpark. Considering that the LF-A puts down serious and competitive numbers for a first effort, I'd say that Ferrari/Lamborghini/Porsche are paying close attention.
Personally, I absolutely LOVE the Lexus LF-A. In terms of design, it's got one very huge flaw. From EVERY angle but the front, the car is absolutely gorgeous. However, the front end is no uglier than the California's mangled butt. The side profile and rear end completely stomps the Ferrari 458. And have you seen the interior? Pure automotive smut.
Yes, the $400,000 pricetag is high, but the exclusivity could be a massive draw. Living in Boston, and having spent significant time in New York City and Los Angeles, I see Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Bentleys all the time. So yeah, I'll take an LF-A. I'll be lucky to unleash even just 80% of the car's potential, so pedigree's not an issue. Pedigree, for most owners, is little more than bragging rights. Few actually take their supercars to the absolute limits.
Oh, and the Lexus will be likely be more reliable than its European competition.

Unfortunately, I live in Georgia and I'm a broke college student, so no cross country trip for me. However, I still would like to talk about this car, as I've been following it since spy shots and video first surfaced of it lapping the Nurburgring. No, I haven't driven it or seen it in person even, but I still can't quite figure out what the point of this car is.
There are some cars that are allowed to be completely pointless. Take the Dodge Ram SRT10 for example. Why the hell would you want or need a pickup truck with a bodykit, huge rims and the heart of a Viper growling under the hood? You don't, but it makes you feel like you're 5 years old. "That's so cool!!" is the only reasoning behind buying such a thing. Same thing goes for a Bugatti Veyron or an Aston Martin One-77...and even the rude and crude (not to mention perennially awesome) Dodge Viper. But a Lexus that cost half a million dollars? Really?
The difference is the LF-A doesn't spark my soul. It doesn't make my jaw drop. It doesn't make me lust after it. It's like why would you marry this person? Because they are good at math? Because they headed up the science club at her college? Of course not!! It's because they something to evoke emotion within you! This Lexus is so perfect, but in that clinical sort of way. Anyone here get excited about going to the doctor?
The car looks the way it looks for the same reason a Toyota Prius looks the way it looks: science. No, I don't believe in making dumb cars, but it's a matter of application here. You have to balance things out between turning as perfect as humanly and scientifically possible and making it look amazing. What if Chevy had traded in that wide, gaping front fascia on the new Camaro for the sake of making it more aerodynamic and fuel efficient? Would you like it so much then? You think Government Motors would still have such a difficult time keeping up with demand? Who wants a $400k Prius?
I mean think about it!! This is a car directly competing(in terms of horsepower and market segment) with car like the new Mercedes SLS Gullwing. You'd have a glorified Toyota over a Mercedes? Name another car. Name any other car for the same kind of money and performance figures and tell me honestly you'd rather have the LF-A.
Don't misunderstand me. I'm sure it's a great car to drive. It's just that I'd much rather spend $400k on something else. Almost anything else. I'd rather have something that's got the pedigree and the history. I'd rather have something that isn't so perfect, but is perfect because it isn't. I don't want to drive a long, complicated math equation. I want something that was built out of someone's creativity and passion for performance. This car is pointless to me because, so far as I can tell, it exist merely to compete with existing cars that have already been established as beloved performers. I'm convinced this was not a labor of love, but of an experiment just to see how smart some people are. This car wasn't hand-built. No, it was figured out in a test tube. The LF-A seems like all the rest of Lexus's cars to me: perfectly cold.
