TORRANCE, California — Lexus on Monday released a teaser shot of the interior of the unnamed concept it will unveil at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show.
The image is noteworthy because it shows Lexus taking some risks with its interior design. The image shows a cabin with sweeping lines and a thin-style seat and headrest somewhat reminiscent of Volvo.
A variety of materials appear to be used in the concept, including chrome, leather and wood. The leather treatment includes sweeping top-stitching that doesn't hew to straight lines and creates a quilted effect.
Lexus said it "hints at the new contemporary, upscale and uniquely Lexus design direction."
The concept debuts on January 9.
Inside Line says: Lexus appears to be tiptoeing in a more risky design direction — at least with its interiors.

Man, why do people sit what is shown? I know it is pimp to look through the back window to check the blind spot, but now the automakers support the pimp seat setting?
For the design though, like the seat - all the color palate is horrible, but I imagine Lexus won't mandate the shades of purple interior.
The roofline does look FT-86. Makes you wonder...

And not a single stich is going to make it into a production model...

Obviously a coupe. I like the leather pattern, but did Prince pick the interior colors?

Look at the roof, this is going to be Lexus' version of the FT-HS:

Since the FT-HS is rumored to be the Supra replacement this could very well be the next SC or IS Coupe.
