Taking the base IS-F sticker into account, that means the local cops likely spent well north of $100,000 for their new toy, which replaces a fleet of Subaru Imprezas.
How did the department arrive at this particular choice? The Road Crimes Section, which reportedly has scored nearly 2,000 convictions over the past four years, spent 12 months in a "stringent evaluation [of] a number of high-performance vehicles," with the help of a vehicle dynamics expert and, no doubt, their local CPA.
According to the unit's Sergeant Mike Peck, the IS-F "proved itself to be ideally suited in providing a dynamically safe high-performance chassis, along with an electronically stable platform" for onboard computers and communications hardware.
Sergeant Peck, who may also have a future as a TV pitchman for Lexus, described the new car as "a most formidable package" and "undoubtedly one of the most advanced police vehicles in the world."
In case you were wondering, the local Web site assures readers that the Humberside Police Lexus "has been restricted to 175 mph for the force's use."
