SYDNEY — Lexus has unveiled the IS 250 Sports Concept here at the 2008 Sydney Auto Show. The car has a package of performance enhancements and exterior modifications that looks virtually production-ready.
Chassis and driveline upgrades include bigger brakes, stiffer Bilstein shocks and stabilizer bars, a beefier clutch, a sport air intake and a stainless-steel exhaust system. Visual mods include front and rear lip spoilers, a carbon-fiber engine cover and 10-spoke graphite gray alloy wheels shod with 19-inch low-profile performance tires.
Lexus said the 2.5-liter DOHC V6 will make about 213 horsepower and is mated to a short-throw manual gearbox.
Inside Line says: The IS 250 Sports could slot neatly below the IS-F in performance and price. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
