TOKYO — Lexus has confirmed that it will unveil the new HS 250h sedan, the brand's fourth gas-electric hybrid model, in January at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show.

While Lexus released only a teaser shot of the vehicle's badge, Japan's Mag-X has supplied sketches and details on the car, which is slated to go on sale in the United States in model year 2010.

According to the magazine, the HS 250h will share its 2.4-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and hybrid driveline with the Toyota Camry Hybrid. It is expected to be Lexus' most affordable hybrid model, priced below the GS 450h (MSRP $57,225), with more of an emphasis on fuel economy than performance.

Scans from Mag-X were posted on the VW Vortex Web site.

Lexus said its Detroit show exhibit will feature an interactive telematics display, highlighting some of the latest technology fitted to the HS 250h.

Inside Line says: We're not sure what "affordable" means in this case, but look for a price tag of around $40,000. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent
