TORRANCE, California — Lexus cuts right to the chase in its first-ever Super Bowl ad, a 30-second spot called "The Beast" that focuses on the new 2013 GS sedan.

Unlike some of the sexier, sillier spots that are being spun by competitors, the Lexus commercial is straightforward, if not downright staid. It shows the GS breaking out of a metal box in a laboratory, with a voiceover proclaiming that the new car "cannot be contained."

The ad, according to Lexus, illustrates "the company's move in a new design direction for the brand."

Toyota's premium brand also noted that the commercial "hints at the additional new vehicles Lexus will unveil later in the year, which are waiting in the wings for their turn to burst onto the scene."

Its funny how evrything such as the colors, speaking and even ideas are quite simple but yet the car is the one that looks messed up. But, IL did mention that this was thier first superbowl ad so I can understand.

Honestly, if I were looking for luxury, comfort, & reliable daily driver, or even long distant driving, I would choose Lexus, if money is not an issue. Well, that is me, nothing against other brands.

The front end looks like it's already been in an accident (crumpled and folded from side impact). Did that happen when it broke out of the metal box?

I love that the car is impervious to damage, and can break out of steel containers without a scratch!

That paint is bad-ass, and I think the body is made out of Adamantium!

Gotta say, the GS has grown on me since it's introduction.  The 5 series is still the best looking car in the class, but this is a close 2nd in terms of overall greatness.  I don't see how anyone chooses a A6, or even an E class over a GS or 5 series.

"No dogs, no bikinis, no baby poop. Sorry."

Why are you guys apologizing? I'ts about time we got a car brand Super Bowl ad that for once, actually talks about the car.

I do like the idea of 4 boxes. GS, GS F Sport, GS Hybrid and hopefully GS-F. I would actually respect Toyota if they could announce a GS-F during the Super Bowl.

I was able to take a hot lap in a new GS (as a passenger) at this years SEMA show. I was actually very impressed at both performance and style. Nice throaty intake growl from inside and exhaust burble from out. It has swagger in person. Styling must be seen in person to truly get the proportions and the attitude it gives off.  Not a Toyota guy in the least but it had me saying wow, nice car.
