SHANGHAI, China — Landwind, the SUV sub-brand started by Jiangling and now controlled by Chang'an, is planning to introduce a new range-topping utility vehicle, the X9, at the 2009 Shanghai Auto Show. Pricing in China will range from $16,000 to $23,000, depending on equipment and trim level.

Landwind will offer the X9 in several versions, including both single- and double-door models, as well as a limited-edition convertible variant.

Power will come from a VM four-cylinder turbodiesel rated at 141 horsepower and 251 pound-feet of torque.

The X9 will compete against similar models from Zhongxing and Great Wall.
