GAYDON, England — As part of the launch of the face-lifted 2011 Range Rover, Land Rover plans to offer a special Autobiography Black model in a limited run of 700 units.
Finished in Barolo Black, the special edition Range Rover gets 20-inch alloy wheels, a unique mesh grille with black surrounds, mesh side vents, body-color door handles and Autobiography Black badging.
Customers can order the cabin in two unique color combinations, Jet and Ivory or Jet and Pimento. Doors are trimmed in Grand Black veneers, and the steering wheel is rendered in leather and Grand Black wood. Illuminated Range Rover logos are embedded in the front sill tread plates. The rear-seat armrest and door panels also sport Autobiography Black logos, as does the key fob.
Inside Line says: Land Rover is billing this special edition as "the ultimate incarnation of the Range Rover." At least until the next one. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent

The Range Rover is oneness, wholeness, completeness, perfection, sum total, together, and agreeable. If you are dining out with classy friends, attending the soccer game, driving to Central Market on the weekend, attending the opera, or parked the the ocean with the love of your life to witness the sunset or sunrise: No matter the occasion the Range Rover is "Individuality."
A professional basketball player gave one to a minister friend of mine eleven years ago, and that's how long I've been hooked on the Range Rover. The elegance inside and out is very nice. I felt rich just sitting in the passenger seat.
It was black on black, and I fell in love with the Range Rover. I've been following, wishing and hoping for eleven years to one day purchase my first Range Rover. I understand the 2011 Limited Edition Autobiography Black Edition will be available at my dealership very soon. I hope to the first one to purchase one of the 175 for this state.
I'm leaning to the Jet and Ivory interior-but I really prefer black on black-just as it was while seated in his Range Rover. It's time for me to celebrate life, and I woke up this morning wondering how would it feel to walk outside or into my garage and behold the most amazing vehicle.

The G and Cayenne are not on the same level as the original Range Rover (not the Sport). The G's technology is 30 years + old and the Cayenne is a VW at heart. I laugh whenever I'm driving my 911 C4S (one of my other cars besides my Range) and pull up next to someone in their ugly souped up VW Touareg thinking they bought a real Porsche. Cayenne has as much prestige as an X5, ML or GL.
Median income of Range Rover buyers' is significantly greater than the Cayenne buyers'. Most Cayenne buyers can not affort a Range. Do your homework.

and of course, you HARDLY see people in Defenders that do not actually go offroad. Range Rovers on the other hand...

Honestly, a spec'ed out Cayenne Turbo has much more prestige than a Range Rover, as does the AMG G55. Range Rovers are for both the affluent, and the affluent hopefuls. You hardly see anybody that does not actually have serious cash in a Cayenne Turbo or a G55.

Somewhat agree with @dc325ix.
Many people have money to burn. But I'm just talking to those who'd make a 'wiser'
investment and probably have better time than fixing RR's unpredictable reliability.
(Not to mention enjoying better drivability)
Speaking of status wise, I think Cayenne Turbo is no less prestige than this RR.
Just IMHO

very good looking but aside from some color differences and grill etc., what else do you get for the money? and regarding aston comment - people who buy range rovers couldnt care less about the Cayenne as it is about making an entrance and being fasionably late - not the first one there :)

I think Range Rover is great custom and high performance. it is not cheap price. it will become classic collection future for Auto Show event.
