GAYDON, England — Land Rover has modestly upgraded the 2012 Range Rover Sport, with more power for its 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel engine and a new ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The high-end Range Rover Sport Autobiography and Limited Editions also get revised interiors, with a power liftgate and a Dual View touchscreen system among the new features for 2012. Also available is a premium 825-watt Harman Kardon Logic 7 audio system.

The ZF gearbox, which incorporates a rotary gearshift selector and paddle shift, contributes to improved fuel economy on the TDI V6, which also gets a hike in output to 253 horsepower.

Inside Line says: No changes for the range-topping 5.0 V8 Supercharged — and none really needed.

when are they going to get rid of those ugly side vents?..seriously, they sell those as stick-on accents nowadays...makes it look cheap...and those rims are too bold for a range rovers supposed image of subtle elegance.

How much longer must I put off buying a new Rover, as I swore this would not happen until a diesel was available.  I would be more than willing to give up some hp from my current 4.2l SC for roughly the same torque and double the gas mileage, plus I believe the diesel would be better off pavement (?).
