BOLOGNA, Italy — Marangoni recently showed off its Range Rover Evoque at the 2011 Bologna Auto Show. The compact crossover showcases its new product line, and the tire specialist gave it the full treatment with a bespoke interior, body kit and red tires.
Marangoni calls it the HFI-R, and starts by outfitting the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine with a new turbo, high-performance exhaust system and carbon air box to increase output by 63 horsepower. That means the 2.0-liter engine, which is an EcoBoost unit sourced from Ford, lays down a total of 300 horses.
The name HFI-R comes from the fact that the SUV features a Hybrid Fuel Injection (HFI) system that allows it to be powered by gasoline and a mixture of hydrogen and natural gas. It has a second bank of tanks used solely for the alternative fuel, has a cruising range of 620 miles and allows drivers to control how much hydrogen or natural gas is added into the mixture.
The exterior gets new front and rear bumpers as well as a carbon-fiber body kit that includes side skirts, fender extensions, a rear diffuser, air intakes and mirror covers. The car gets covered in a special satin Titanium Fluid Metal paint, and Marangoni also installed a set of 20-inch OZ Racing wheels wrapped in its unmistakable ruby-red M-Power EvoRed rubber. The tires have a unique high-silica makeup that helps reduce rolling resistance.
The interior gets a complete overhaul and was designed by Italian fashion brand Conte of Florence with a black and red theme. The company used a variety of Alcantara and leather, applying a special "quilting" to the upholstery in an attempt to honor the golfing traditions of Scotland.
All the products seen in this tune will be marketed next year by TRC Italia.
Inside Line says: A clean look that might align with the likes of a factory sport package — of course without the ridiculous tires and interior.

OMG! Marangoni has disgraced the Range Rover brand. The design deters from brand's luxury image. This is not a boy racer vehicle. Those skimpy 20" wheels gives the appearance that the Evoque is riding on rims only. What's with the red tires?! Two thumbs down.

The body kit actually looks really great. Fairly subtle I'd say. The red tires though, ooooph!
I bought a nice polo from Conte of Florence when I was in that city, and thought the style of their clothes was nice, but with this interior, I would have avoided that red headliner. Red seat inserts would have worked better instead I think.

What is it with designer edition cars and suvs looking far worse than the original car? Why do these version have to be gaudy / garish or why does gaudy / garish say "designer bespoke"? I'd hate to see what clothes the people who buy things like this wear.
