MAHWAH, New Jersey — The all-new 2012 Range Rover Evoque goes on sale this fall in the U.S., priced from $43,995 for the Evoque five-door and $44,995 for the Evoque "coupe." Prices include shipping.
The Evoque is the most frugal Range Rover ever, with EPA ratings of 19 miles per gallon in city driving and 28 mpg on the highway.
The Evoque three-door debuted last fall at the 2010 Paris Auto Show, while the five-door was launched at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show.
The Evoque is based on Land Rover's 2008 LRX concept and is built on a modified version of the Freelander/LR2 platform.
Inside Line says: U.S. prices are just a shade below those in the U.K.

That's a lot of dough for a mini-SUV that is not very fast and not exceptionally fuel efficient. We'll see how well it sells soon enough.

i hope this POS will come w/ like 6 cameras so the driver can see out of it.
In 5yrs we'll be saying "RIP Range Rover."

This is the most refreshing new Land Rover I've seen in a long time but waaaay too expensive compared to the competition.

So, there better not be any options because that is more expensive than everything even remotely near the class it's in. A stylish XC60 starts at $32,000, which has more power, prepaid maintenance, and a better safety rating. I just don't see the point. I was hoping that it'd cost near $28K.
Also, I compare every 2.0T to Hyundai / Kias new one, and every one fails flat on their face in comparison. Is there ANY 2.0T that can compete? (not the EVO X's, it only gets 14 mpg).

I really do not like how the side glass tapers to the back of the vehicle. If it was more conventional, i could really see myself driving one of these. So close, yet so far..

Likes:
-ground clearance looks better than a Subaru Outback
-2 doors
-reminds me of the Suzuki Vitara 2 door that is NOT available stateside (this is a good thing)
Dislikes:
-It's not available with a manual transmission (AFAIK)
-I don't care about economy. At least give me the OPTION of a fire-breathing Evoque.
This would be a day one purchase for me with a manual and some more torque (and hp).

Extend the rear window glass to where "range rover" is currently written. It wouldn't hurt the side view lines, would improve visibility, and would visualy lighten the back end.

Uses the 2.0L Ecoboost from Ford, 237HP
Is about $8k overpriced. Shouldn't cost anymore than a base GLK or Q5
