PARIS — Range Rover confirmed that a five-door version of its new Evoque will make its public debut next month at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show, and released the first official image of the vehicle.
The company introduced the Evoque three-door at the 2010 Paris Auto Show.
Based on the 2008 LRX concept, the Evoque three- and five-door models are slated to go on sale in fall 2011 as 2012 models.
The Evoque is built on a modified version of the Freelander/LR2 platform and is considerably smaller and lighter than the Range Rover Sport.
Among the engines is a turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline direct-injection four-cylinder delivering 240 horsepower. Several four-cylinder turbodiesels also will be offered.

That will be the best looking RR if it stays the same as the photos. WOW is that thing hot.

The 5-door is more practical and justifiable, in a business sense.
But it definitely loses it's Mojo in the transition
The 3-door is lighter, tighter, and better proportioned
Sexier is better.

NO BRAINER:
Without the 5-Door model of the Evoque, the 2011 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara would have absolutely mauled LR.
Add the new Liberty and Grand Cherokee to the mix, and and then the Americans will still probably drive their English Cousins back into the sea.
The English Patient desperately needs a blindingly fast, properly sorted out Evoque SB (Special Build) model to act as a halo machine. There's virtually nothing in the marketplace to compete with it; yet. Then more buyers might actually think that LRs are worth the price differential. Tame, unexciting product simply isn't going to get the job done.
The problem is... that Gruppo Fiat SPA can do the exact same thing; mating a Chrysler twin Turbo-6, a DCT and AWD with the Liberty Platform and achingly gorgeous sheet metal. And who's to say that the Italians don't have a production-ready test mule hammering around Monza or Nardo right now? Your guess is as good as mine.

This makes more sense than the 3 door version on a Rover.
