    What Is It?
    2004 Land Rover Freelander

    What's Special About It?
The Land Rover Freelander receives mostly aesthetic changes to its exterior, restyled to incorporate big brother Range Rover's design cues. The new Freelander clearly shows its Land Rover heritage with its new Range Rover-esque front bumper, headlamps and front grille. The new twin-pocket clear lens headlamps improve light intensity 70 percent over the previous lamps, and front and rear bumpers are now body color. Rear taillamps have also been restyled, and are moved higher to increase their visibility through off-road mud and grime.

Interior improvements have taken place as well, and consist of new gauges and control switches, new door trims and redesigned seats with better body and thigh support. Higher-quality fabrics and materials give the Freelander's interior a more upscale feel.

    Why Should You Care?
If you like the idea of a Land Rover, but not the price of a Range Rover, the Freelander is a viable option. As it continues to increase in luxury and quality, it may keep small SUV buyers content until they are ready for Big Brother. — Kelly Stennick
