The vehicles will include a 1953 Lancia Aurelia B20 rally car, one of six designed for competition, and the original Lancia Stratos HF Prototype Bertone Coupe, which made its world debut at the 1971 Turin Auto Show. Other notable Lancias at the show will include the D24, described as one of the automaker's "most innovative vehicles." It is unusual to find Lancia center stage at such a major event, show organizers underscored.
"This is the first time since I became involved in collectible cars in 1971 that I've seen Lancia honored at a major event," said Francesco Gandolfi, Pebble Beach Concours chief class judge, in a statement. "I don't know when, and if, I will see the same again."
Lancia was founded in 1906 and is often lauded for being one of the most distinctive and "spirited" marques in auto history. It produced the first narrow-angle V4 and V6 production engines.
The salute to GM's 100th anniversary at Pebble Beach will include cars from the GM Motorama road show, which highlighted GM prototypes and concepts from 1949-'61. Another feature will be a special class for the Cadillac V16, which has been called "one of the premier vehicles of the pre-World War II era." Lamborghini will also showcase a number of its vehicles.
Additional information about the event can be found at the Pebble Beach Concours Web site.
