- Rumors suggest Lamborghini is working on a supercar to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
- The automaker built a 25th anniversary Countach and a 40th anniversary Murcielago.
- Whether it's a production Sesto Elemento or something else, look for it in 2013.
SANT'AGATA BOLOGNESE, Italy — Here's one of those persistent rumors that often turn out to be true: Lamborghini, bloggers are saying, is at work on a supercar to fete its 50th anniversary — one that would make its debut in the anniversary year of 2013.
Whether or not Lambo is at work on such a car, there's no doubt the Italian firm is doing well worldwide these days. The pre-production Aventador, Lamborghini's Murcielago replacement, has been shown in Asia, and 50 pre-orders were booked by mid-December — with a price of $1.14 million on the 700-hp V12-powered supercar. Meanwhile, a German dealer has listed the Sesto Elemento concept for sale at $2.9 million.
Inside Line says: It will be fun to see this rumor play out, and it is all but certain that Lamborghini won't let the half-century mark pass without a splash. — Laura Sky Brown, Correspondent

$1.14M!?!?! Where on earth did that number come from?! That's not a Murci replacement--that's a Reventon replacement! If the LP700 is any more than $500K I'd be really, really surprised.

I'm not generally a fan of lots of angles and intersections, but I must agree that, from the pictures I have seen, this looks pretty good. Still, if I had the bucks and my druthers, I'd prefer the Reventon.

I dont think it will be called the Sesto when it makes production however. I think we're looking at the next Gallardo. It looks around the same size, and it's got a V10.
