Reiter Engineering Unveils Race-Prepped Lamborghini Gallardo GT3

KIRCHANSCHÖRING, Germany — Reiter Engineering, Lamborghini's factory-backed FIA entry, has updated its race-bred Lamborghini LP560-4 GT3 car to 2010 FIA specifications and tested it for the first time in public.

The 5.2-liter V10 now develops 570 horsepower (compared with the stock 560 hp) and 399 pound-feet of torque, and weight has been reduced to 2,624 pounds thanks to lightweight aluminum chassis components and carbon-fiber bodywork. That's close to 700 pounds off the standard LP560-4.

The midengine car now sports a 43 percent front and 57 percent rear weight distribution, helping the vehicle handle even better in corners. Reiter also upgraded the braking system and added a fully adjustable race suspension, which combines with the tuned ECU and quicker shifting times to create a more-than-competent Lambo racing car.

Lookswise, the vehicle receives a huge carbon rear wing, front splitter and completely closed aluminum honeycomb underbody. A set of 18-inch wheels wrapped in 270/650 rubber in the front and 310/710 in the back is part of the GT3 treatment as well.

    The GT3 is priced at $376,500, a $150,000 premium over the standard Euro-spec Gallardo LP560-4. Another $42,600 will upgrade the GT3 to a ready-to-compete GT2 racer.

Inside Line says: Reiter has previously produced a street-legal Strada edition of its GT3 vehicles; we can only hope it does the same for its latest racer. — Mike Lysaght, Correspondent
