Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera: 2010 Geneva Auto Show

    SANT'AGATA BOLOGNESE, Italy — The Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera, as its name implies, is a superlight version of the Gallardo LP560-4, with lots of carbon-fiber bits inside and out and a tad more power. It will debut at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show.

    The Superleggera borrows the Gallardo's 5.2-liter V10 and adds direct injection, nudging output from 552 to 562 horsepower. The last numeral in the 570-4 designation marks the vehicle's permanent all-wheel drive, which incorporates a central viscous coupling and a rear limited-slip differential.

    The engine, which makes 398 pound-feet of torque, drives the wheels through Lamborghini's e-gear six-speed automated manual gearbox with paddle shifters.

    Lambo quotes a top speed of 202 mph for the Gallardo Superleggera and says it will rocket from rest to 60 mph in less than 3.5 seconds, thanks to its lighter weight.

    The chassis has been retuned for a firmer ride, and the car sits on unique 19-inch forged aluminum wheels with Pirelli P Zero Corsa rubber — 235/35ZR19 front and 295/30ZR19 rear.

    Aero modifications include a redesigned front bumper and rear diffuser. Buyers can choose from a standard small rear spoiler or a larger version at extra cost.

    To reduce weight, Lamborghini has made the side windows and backlight from polycarbonate. The carbon-fiber engine cover incorporates a polycarbonate window. The rear spoiler, sills, diffuser and parts of the underbody also are made of carbon-fiber.

    The engineers have applied carbon-fiber inside the car, too, for the door panels, center tunnel cover and seat shells. The seats are clad in Alcantara, and buyers can select stitching in a contrasting color.

    The Gallardo Superleggera will come with a wide variety of options, including carbon-ceramic brakes, colored brake calipers, a manual gearbox, a rearview camera, a multimedia navigation system, a carbon-fiber interior trim package and an LED light package that illuminates the engine compartment, cabin and entry area.

    Why do people compare ZR-1's to Lambos/Ferraris? They may be similar in performance, but don't mistake it, american muscle doesn't deliver nearly the same thrill, status and overall experience that Italian's do; it's like comparing a Harley to a Ducati (Though I love Harley's).

    ZR-1 or Lambo; which one can be built for greater performance? Lambo, right? It is the Lambo which reaches over 240 mph in the Texas Mile (one mile, not top end to reach more than 240 mph). Yes, yes, yes, the Lambo is more expensive, but yes, yes, yes, the Lambo is faster too.

    @Coachonmars THANK YOU. They keep acting like lil kids. Car choice is definetly based on income and what u like.  AND im tired of yall comparing the GTR and ZR1 like they are the halo cars. BUY AND BUILD WHAT YOU WANT. To be honest i wouldnt spend more than 40k on a car and thats includes the price of the vehicle and all upgrades i put into it I/E/FMIC etc.... but thats my "CHOICE"

    And this bang for buck argument is redundant as you can buy a normal used corvette for 30k put 20k into it and it will do circles around the zr1. You can buy an EVO or STI for 20k put 20k into it and it will destroy the GTR

    Honestly i think you guys who argue on the internet dont even wrench on ur own cars and probably just pay ppl to work on it for u

    Do the math, jazzor.  A ZR-1 still has a better power-to-weight ratio.  It's heavier, but has significantly more horsepower.  The ZR-1 also has LOTS more torque than the Lambo.  Translation:  the ZR-1 will outrun this Lambo, but the margin wouldn't be huge.  A GT-R wouldn't be able to hang with either past 60 MPH.

    InsideLine forgot to mention this LP570-4 is 2,954 lbs.
    Yeah, you think a GT-R or a ZR1 are going to hang around with this bad boy?

    Think again!

    @coachonmars
    I agree with you wholeheartedly.

    People that can afford such high priced exotics buy it not just based on speed, reliability or performance.
    Luxury, exclusivity, or maybe it's just the experience they're looking for.
    I'm sure you can pull up in a ZR1 or whatever sub $100K super fast modded car or whatever, but most exotic owners won't care if you pull ahead or not.  Most likely, they'll just be shaking their heads at you.
    Hell, I get idiots revving at me on the street when I had a modded M3.  And that's JUST a M3... not even a ZR1, Carrera Turbo or the like...  I got nothing to prove to them.  Besides, I prefer to vent out all my speed racer urges at the autocross, not on the street.

    Everyone shut up.   Choice of vehicles depends on your income idiots.

    The Lamborghini is a much rarer car.  Its the one you'd pick if you had a choice.
    Of course, with anything you can find a cheaper alternative (see: suits example)

    If your in a GTR or ZR-1, racing a Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston Marin, Zonda...who is going to bash on you for having a GTR or ZR-1???

    99% of the population drive vehicles that do not compare.  Those who do have comparable vehicles typically appreciate your ability and desire to invest into the same common interest.

    Day 1: Go buy a GTR and show others...see what happens.
    Day 2: Go buy this Lambo and show others...same reaction

    Vehicle choice is based upon what you like, not what others think.  Are you still in high school???  I've driven most of the new performance cars out today, but there several, rare, expensive one that I would opt out of ownership.

    Ever thought of what driving a race-ready ferrari is like when its not on the track?  Terrible.  I'll take that SVT Focus instead for the drive back to the garage.

    "Bang for your Buck" is always an opinion based upon circumstances.

    @f1ndler

    You go ahead and spend $200k or whatever overpriced amount this Lambo is going to cost, and feel good about yourself for belonging to a "higher social class".  In the mean time, I'll go and spend a measly $100k on a ZR-1.

    And one day when we cross paths, let's see how good about yourself you'll still feel, once I blow the doors off your silly little Lambo with my ultimate redneck-mobile.
