The Concept S is expected to continue Lamborghini's tradition in developing extreme and unique vehicles, such as the 350 GTS and the Miura Roadster. It is the work of Luc Donckerwolke, head of Lamborghini Design, who was inspired by the image of classic single-seater racing cars.
The concept is organized around the central idea of an open car, featuring a saute-vent (French for "a sudden change in the wind") instead of a traditional windshield. The saute-vent performs multiple functions: It directs the air above the head of the driver and separates the compartments of the cabin. It also serves as an additional air inlet for the engine, which is located behind the seats.
The aerodynamic design of Concept S incorporates front and rear spoilers and a large rear diffuser. Lamborghini has also equipped the new concept with an electronically controlled, retractable, central rearview mirror.
What this means to you: Some designers are rethinking automotive roofs. Perhaps all we need is an extended windshield.
