DETROIT — Lamborghini's Ad Personam program, which was introduced a year ago at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show, allows for the customization of its vehicles straight from the factory. At the 2009 show, the Italian automaker brings it to the next level with its two Ad Personam cars: a Murciélago LP640-4 and a Gallardo LP560-4 coupe.
"Ad Personam offers every Lamborghini customer the opportunity to acquire a completely exclusive vehicle from a unique brand — one that is perfectly in tune with their own lifestyle," said Stephan Winkelmann, president and CEO of Lamborghini.
Although the vehicles featured are clad in a matte blue finish, Lamborghini also offers matte shades of white (Bianco Canopus), brown (Marrone Apus) and black (Nero Nemesis).
The Murciélago has a full Alcantara interior complete with diamond stitching and carbon-fiber accenting, and its steering wheel is covered in a combination of suede and more carbon fiber. Gloss black Callisto wheels provide a close-to-perfect contrast with the light matte blue exterior.
The Gallardo features the same glossy black wheels but gets a mix of napa leather and carbon fiber inside instead of the Alcantara.
Inside Line says: Although these vehicles have been customized, they're not quite as extreme as the Edo Competition Murciélago that was unveiled late last year. — Mike Lysaght, Correspondent
