GENEVA — The Swedish geniuses who populate supercar maker Koenigsegg have figured out how to extract more muscle from the rocket-like CCX, while easing the car's environmental impact.

Running on 100-octane biofuel, the new Koenigsegg CCXR produces a staggering 1,018 horsepower and 782 pound-feet of torque. The company says it can retrofit the CCX with the biofuel option.

Koenigsegg also has created a new racing model, the CCGT, which has been down-tuned to comply with FIA GT1 regulations. The company removed the superchargers but hiked displacement to 5.0 liters. The resulting output is just north of 600 hp.

Based on the CC range, the CCGT has an amazingly high power-to-weight ratio, since its dry weight is just under 2,200 pounds. An additional 220 pounds of ballast will be optimally positioned to meet FIA minimum-weight rules.

What this means to you: Fast and clean — exactly what we'd expect from Scandinavians. And you have to admire their ability to meet regulations without trimming out any of the fun.
