NEW YORK — Following its world debut in Geneva, the redesigned 2011 Kia Sportage is being introduced to an American audience this week at the 2010 New York Auto Show.
With a revised cabin and new sheet metal, the 2011 Sportage will be marketed in the U.S. in two trim levels: LX and EX.
Initially, the only engine will be a DOHC 2.4-liter four-cylinder, which Kia says is more powerful and economical than the 2.7-liter V6 that it replaces. The Sportage at midyear will add a turbocharged gasoline direct-injected variant. Six-speed manual and Sportmatic gearboxes are available, along with a choice of front- or all-wheel drive.
Standard features include air-conditioning, power windows, dual visors with vanity mirrors, height-adjustable front seats and a tilt steering column. On the safety front, the 2011 Sportage gets Hill Start Assist Control and Downhill Brake Control, as well as stability and traction control.
Inside Line says: A new look that puts the 2011 Sportage more squarely in the Kia family. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent

There is one thing with the new 2011 Sportage from Kia.
It does not have an adjustable front passenger seat ,just the drivers side does,,it feels like one is sitting in a hole....why would they skip that???

I'm glad to see Kia adopt a new and consistent family look. It serves the brand well. Thank you former Audi design boss!

Lets hope the turbo comes with a manual. If so, I believe it would be the first suv with a powerful engine coupled to a manual since the 08 forester. I am skeptical they will do this however. We will have to wait and see.

I agree with lexuslvr, this is the best looking car in its class.. The Ford Escape and Hyundai Tucson with the bigger wheel combo would have to come in at a close 2nd imo..

@ leokbelo
"Toyota cars.. as dependable as they might be?"
I hear where you're coming from, but at last check, Toyota is recalling more than 8.5 million vehicles (10 million if you include a 'service campaign' to repair hoses for possible oil leaks on 1.3 million more Toyotas)
Can't say I'm thrilled as my Corolla 3 times to fix a transmission oil leak and sold it before this 'campaign'.. Yes, stats point to Toyotas being relatively dependable, but both of my Toyota's have been nothing but nightmares. Unfortunate but life goes on. Looks like I might be going with Hyundai, Kia or Mazda in the future..
