2008-'09 Kia Rondo Recalled for Fuel Pump Problem

    0 Ratings
WASHINGTON — Kia is recalling 6,680 of its 2008-'09 Rondo LX and EX models with the 2.4-liter engine because the fuel pump may not operate properly, which could result in a situation where not enough fuel gets to the engine.

In uncharacteristically strong language, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's summary of the problem warns that "unusually severe impairment while driving could expose the driver to the risk of a crash."

"Poor engine starting, engine hesitation and other impairment may result, and the 'check engine' light may illuminate," said NHTSA.

Kia dealers will replace the fuel pump subassembly with an improved part. The recall has begun. Kia Rondo owners can contact the company at (800) 333-4542.

What this means to you: If you own a 2008-'09 Kia Rondo, have it checked out ASAP with your dealer. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent
