The 2011 Kia Optima Spy Video reveals this all-new midside sedan being tested in Death Valley.

Kia has been living in the shadow of Hyundai for some time now, but now it�s finally trying to make a name for itself with eye catching new designs.

These prototypes of the 2011 Kia Optima sedan reveal just how far the company has come recently.

This next-generation Optima ditches the traditional, boxy shape of the current model in favor of much sleeker lines.

In fact, if we didn�t know better we might suspect this was a hatchback, but underneath all that camouflage is a short decklid and a real trunk.

This Optima will be more traditional under the skin as it�s expected to arrive with a standard four-cylinder engine and an automatic transmission. An optional V6 will available as well.

The suspension tuning on this Optima is expected to be slightly firmer than its Hyundai counterpart as this Optima will be positioned as a sportier alternative to the Sonata.

Expect to see the official unveil of the 2011 Kia Optima early next year with sales beginning next fall.
