The "S" stands for "Sporty, Spacious and Smart," the company said, although this couldn't be independently verified.
The Multi S is built on a 106.3-inch-long wheelbase and is powered by a 2.7-liter, V6 gasoline engine; however, the company was quick to point out there's room for a diesel — a must for Europe. The crossover uses a five-speed automatic transmission, with the possibility of a manual, too.
The 178.9-inch-long prototype features many advanced safety features, such as an electronic stability system, adaptive front lighting, full-length curtain airbags and "active" head restraints.
Inside is a seven-seat layout, a dual-panel glass roof and typical show-car touches, such as the high-tech instrument panel and the rear-row entertainment system with a USB (Universal Serial Bus) port.
Although Kia's official line is it has no plans to produce the one-off, according to insiders, the company indeed plans to introduce a new crossover in two or three years, with a firm eye on North America.
