2008 SEMA Show: Kia Rolls Out Soul Burner and Borrego Limited Concepts

LAS VEGAS — Kia and "menacing" aren't synonyms, but it's clear that the Korean automaker is going for a tough-guy image with its 2008 SEMA Show lineup. Among the offerings: a Kia Soul Burner concept, a SEMA Rio5 concept and a Kia Borrego Limited SEMA concept.

Perhaps the most noteworthy of the bunch is the Rio5 concept, which hints at the accessories being considered for future Kia vehicles. This concept serves as a "test bed" for what may be a Scion-like accessories slate. A custom Kia body kit gets a revised front mesh grille, blackened headlights, custom rims, a revised strut brace and cold-air intake system, a cat-back exhaust and stainless steel door sill plates.

The Kia Borrego Limited SEMA concept gets a monotone black exterior with limo-tint windows and 22-inch Avarus chrome wheels and Spec-X tires.

The Kia Soul Burner concept, an appearance package, gets a black-on-black paint job with scarlet touches.

Inside Line says: You may be able to purchase pieces of the Rio5 concept in the future, if the SEMA crowd gives the thumbs-up. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent
