- The 2012 Jeep Wrangler will be featured in Activision's new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 video game.
- The game is slated to be released November 8.
- As a promotional tie-in, Jeep dealers will sell a 2012 Wrangler Call of Duty: MW3 Special Edition, beginning in November.
AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — Continuing what appears to be a fruitful partnership, Jeep and Activision are teaming up on the November 8 release of the new video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which features the 2012 Wrangler. To mark the occasion, Jeep dealers in November will begin selling the 2012 Wrangler Call of Duty: MW3 Special Edition, which will be offered in two-door and Unlimited four-door variants.
Based on the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon model, the Wrangler Call of Duty: MW3 Special Edition can be ordered in black or bright silver, with semi-gloss black Rubicon wheels, a "power dome" hood and special graphics on the front fenders and spare-tire cover.
The special edition rides on 32-inch tires and features a two-speed transfer case and live axles with front and rear lockers. Available Mopar accessories include a winch-ready front bumper, rock rails and taillamp guards.
The Wrangler's cabin is adorned with black seats, accent stitching, a numbered dash plate and logos on nearly every interior surface.
The special edition also gets the new Pentastar V6 that's fitted to the 2012 Wrangler.

@bryan1280. First of all, I would never own an off-road vehicle with an "automatic" top. Secondly, fuel economy, towing, acceleration...huh? It's a WRANGLER! I want a vehicle I can run down Northrup Gulch with no problem AND something "unique" vs every other Euro-trash or Asian rip-off out there. The fact that Jeep is FINALLY building a limited edition on the Rubicon falls into the "well, it's about time" category. OK, it's a Call of Duty: MW3 edition...yea, it's marketing...but I LIKE the all-black look, the logos, and the accents. Now, if you actaully looked at the REAL stuff...front and rear Dana 44s with electronic lockers...I might have preferred ARB Air Lockers for the differentials but, that's minor. It's also standard with rock rails and the sway bar disconnect! Come on...do you do ANY off-roading? I also like the option of getting the bumper WITH the integrated WARN winch and a dealer installed 2" lift. I am planning on ordering this beast...I hope I have an option on the tires would rather go up to 33".
Yes, I am a bit biased. I own/have owned 6 Jeeps...everything from the old two door Jeep Cherokee Sport to a Jeep Cherokee Laredo.

I wish Jeep would stop spending their money on stupid graphics and add-ons to try to entice new buyers to their product. Instead, take that money and invest it in Research and Development to produce a product that people want. This is the second time this year that Jeep has thrown a couple aftermarket items at their vehicle and touted it as something special. They did the same thing at the 2011 NY International Auto Show where they released a Jeep Wrangler "Mojave" which consisted of little more than kaki paint job and some Gecko graphics. Jeep consistency displays the "Old World" method of thinking, create a product and then force it on the public.
Don't get me wrong, the Jeep Wrangler fits a very neat niche, but to be objective, every other manufacturer is producing new and innovative products that are creating a new bar level for fuel economy, towing capacity, and acceleration. The Jeep Wrangler is very capable off-road, but that is about where it's credits end. It is still utilizing a manual up and down soft top, and get gas mileage that is simply deplorable.
Come on Jeep, you helped create the modern day SUV, we expect more from you.

It could be improved if it did come with automatic rifles and a bazooka. Oh wait, am I contributing to the downfall of America with that attitude? My bad. I love Wranglers, this seems like a cool version. I dig it. I hope that buyers of this do not become murderous crazies because it is tied to a video game that promotes violence.

I want a JEEP with NOTHING in it, no power anything, no electronics ,no gimmicks, maybe a plain "ole " fm radio to pickup the sports shows. An interior you can blast clean with a hose and big ashtray for my big cigars would be perfect ! Last and most important a CUMMINS DIESEL so I have power, torque and long term durability. Take your lame Pentastar and video games and send them straight to the minivans where they belong! Someone please remind them this is a JEEP not a RANGE ROVER mall cruiser!

Basically, this is the second brand to promote a console game, but the First to do it more than once on the same model. Nissan did a promotion for Polyphony Digital in 2003 with a 350Z Gran Turismo 4 Edition (car is seen in GT4). But the difference between these two promo models is that Jeep did their promo model for Activision Games twice (2011 Wrangler Call Of Duty: Black Ops edition).
It seems the Car Company/Game Company collab special edition cars are becoming more common. What's next, Toyota teams up with Sega and makes a Sonic Generations edition of the Toyota FT-86? VW teams up with Mojang Games and makes a Minecraft edition of the Volkswagen Bulli MicroBus?
We'll just see....

I'm a big fan of Jeep but I couldn't justify buying a brand new one. I see a lot of the Unlimited's in black going around, but a lot of them don't ever take it off roading...how do I know? They're too clean, and driven by a lot of women or guys that just want that look. Will this sell? I hope so...it's got real hardware, and nevermind the name. It's a real jeep. Guys and gals if you buy one of these....I don't want to see it in front of a mall or bumping Katy Perry with those 50's shades.

I wonder how many fanboys are going to actually buy this. Very poor marketing

The "Power Dome" hood and bumpers are both from American Expedition Vehicles. They provide functional advantages over the stock units. The hood allows additional cooling of the engine bay which is nice for slow speed rock crawling. The bumpers are vastly stronger than the stock units and offer better approach and departure angles. So the differences are significant and not merely a styling exercise.
I know I sound like an ad but I am not in any way connected to them. I do have a Rubicon with their wheels (Pintlers) on it and have been saving up for their 3.5" lift for a while. I would like their bumpers but they are VERY expensive so they'll have to wait. Nice to see Jeep working with these guys.

Yeah, the wet blankets are here. "Won't anybody think of the children?!?!?"
It's a special edition. It doesn't come with an AK, bazooka, launcher or anything. It's different parts that most owners upgrade anyway, but this way, they have factory warranties. It's something different...that's all.
Onlt thing I would really want to change is the stitching on the headrests.

Newsflash people like special edition cars. Just look at the mustang. If I were already going to buy a wrangler rubicon I would consider it just to get a few parts I would get anyway and have it be a bit more unique will help on resale (not that any wrangler needs it).
