NEW YORK — The 2011 Jeep Wrangler Mojave, heavy on the lizard logos inside and out, debuted on Wednesday at the 2011 New York Auto Show.
The special-edition Wrangler Mojave will go on sale in June and is priced at $29,945, including a $750 destination charge. It is available in Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited models.
Exterior details include a body-color hardtop and fender flares, "Mojave" and lizard decals on the hood and rear, and side steps. Mineral gray 17-inch wheels with 32-inch tires round out the package. The cabin gets seats in dark saddle leather with a lizard logo, driftwood trim, Mopar slush mats and overhead grab handles. It is available in Sahara Tan, Bright White and Black.
Jeep says it follows such popular special models as the 2011 Jeep Wrangler Call of Duty: Black Ops Edition.
The special model is named for the 138-mile Mojave Trail, which runs through the desolate Mojave National Preserve. The National Park Service's Web site paints a bleak picture of the area, noting that cell phone service is "sporadic and unreliable." It also notes that there are no hotels or gas stations in the area. The Mojave Trail is said to be one of the earliest routes that brought American pioneers to California — and they would likely recognize it today.
The 2011 Jeep Wrangler is equipped with a 202-horsepower 3.8-liter V6 engine linked to a standard six-speed manual transmission.

I've been waiting years to buy a Jeep Wrangler or Unlimited, but the engine choices have always been less than desirable. Hoping a small V-8 or diesel may find its way into the "options" section of the Wrangler choices. It's the only thing keeping me from buying one.

wiki always takes shots at Chrysler. I think a Ram must have run over his Civic while it was parked at his job at McDonalds. lol.

I think Jeep has kept a reputation for durability in the Wrangler despite bad rep from Chrysler. The Wrangler is in a separate class. The numbers don't always tell the story. The Wrangler is a very capable vehicle for what is built. I've owned 3 of them at different times in my life and can assure you that it is an acquired taste. Definitely one of the most capable vehicles in the world. "Like no other". As I said, you must experience one first.

Yep, MOPAR's the only one that has Specal Edition vehicles. Got me there.
And where is it exactly that shows these aren't good cars? Sales figres? Nope.

If you can't build a good car go with gimmicks. It's the MOPAR way.

Calm ye heads! The new six cylinder is on track for 2012 models along with a 5 speed auto option. This is just another tape job to fill the numbers. Pentastar Wranglers go into assembly in July.

How much longer is the Wrangler going to be saddled with this wussy engine? I know that the Wrangler is built to go slowly over rocks, not impress on the drag strip, but seriously, 202 hp the super sized Wrangler is silly.
