LAS VEGAS — The Jeep Wrangler Overland doesn't look like your typical over-the-top SEMA showstopper. But it will grab some attention nevertheless, if for no other reason than the fact that the showcar turns itself into a "self-contained campsite," according to Chrysler.
The SEMA vehicle began life as a 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. A large rubberized utility floor replaces the rear seats to provide more cargo space. The cabin also gets Mopar water-resistant front seat covers, Mopar slush mats, a Daystar dash bin and a lower switch panel for added accessories.
The most unusual add-on is a roof-mounted ARB Simpson two-person tent and touring awning that fold out of the cargo rack.
The Wrangler's suspension has been jacked up by 3 inches, thanks to an AEV Nth-degree lift kit with Full Traction rear stabilizer bar. Mopar also has fitted 17-inch steel off-road wheels shod with 35-inch tires, as well as AEV steel bumpers and a Warn 9.5ti winch.
There are lights galore, including Mopar windshield-mounted off-road lights and Daystar bumper-mounted units. An AEV head-reduction hood and snorkel kit provide additional capability in the desert.
