2008 Paris Auto Show Preview: Jeep Patriot Back Country Concept Unleashed

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — Jeep decided not to put on airs for the 2008 Paris Auto Show, opting to roll out an outdoorsy Jeep Patriot Back Country Concept fit for "dirty, dusty gear."

Spun off the Jeep Patriot Limited, the concept gets an eye-popping "Optic Green" paint job, which is carried through the cabin. Mopar contributed a raft of accessories, including splash guards, off-road lights and a rooftop cargo basket. The concept also gets 18-inch wheels and tires and a Back Country Edition badge.

The rear cargo floor is made of rubber and is "perfect for carrying muddy shoes," said Jeep in a statement. The cabin takes its inspiration from wetsuits and scuba equipment. The material on the seat bolsters and head restraints is made from a urethane material.

What this means to you: Even though it runs the risk of turning off stiletto-heel-wearing Parisians, the Patriot concept remains true to its roots. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent
