WASHINGTON — Chrysler is recalling 16,229 2008 Jeep Liberty vehicles because of defective windshield wipers, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
"The vehicles are equipped with windshield wiper motors that contain excessive adhesive that may allow for water intrusion, which could result in intermittent and eventually inoperative windshield wiper operation," said NHTSA in its recalls summary of the problem. "A failing or inoperative windshield wiper system will reduce a driver's visibility, which could result in a crash."
Jeep dealers will replace the windshield wiper motor. The recall is expected to begin sometime in November. Owners can contact Chrysler at (800) 853-1403.

New Owner Dec, of used 09 Jeep Liberty 4wd, Trail Rated, coblot blue, 41,miles,....I am passed my 3,000 mile call back to Folsom Lake Dodge, CA Dealership. I did buy extended but not covering paint or windows. Wish I had now. It seems my beauty has a windshild that has worsen over the month to a nice blurr, not clear. I took it to Redding Dealership, you need to replace windshild. I even tried the Scotts Glass Co. in Burney, CA, can't repair the windshield and have no idea what has happened to it. You need to replace your windshield. Cost is approx. $400. I wonder if the windshield wipers are bad and caused this to happen, since its only where the wipers blades go on both sides of the windshield. Its a 2009...???? Any ideals. CAJeepBlues

I wish they would give supplier names on recalls like this. It has nothing to do with chrysler as much as it is a supplier issue.
