Jeep: What's New for 2010?

    4 Ratings

2010 Jeep Commander: Hemi power is now the only available V8 for the 2010 Commander, as Jeep drops the optional 4.7-liter V8, making the 357-horsepower 5.7-liter Hemi V8 standard on the Limited and optional on the Sport model. A power liftgate becomes standard equipment on the Limited this year, and Inferno Red Crystal Pearl paint replaces Red Rock Crystal Pearl. Chromed body-side molding is standard on all models, and rear exterior chromed assist handles and body-color fender flares with chromed styled bolt heads and body-color mirrors are standard on the Limited, and 18-inch Casino chrome-clad forged aluminum wheels are available on the Limited.

2010 Jeep Compass: For 2010, Jeep mates its 158-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a five-speed manual transmission on the Compass Sport 4x2, and adds driver and front passenger active head restraints to all Compass models. Automatic climate control is now available on the five-passenger Compass, and remote start is added to the Security Group.

2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee: With an all-new 2011 Grand Cherokee on the horizon, changes are few to the 2010 model. Most notably, the Overland model has been dropped this year, leaving the Grand Cherokee available in just two trims, Laredo and Limited.

2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8: Inferno Red Crystal Pearl Coat paint is added to the SRT8's exterior color palette.

2010 Jeep Liberty: Fuel-saving technology is rolled out to the 2010 Liberty, including Chrysler's Interactive Decel Fuel Shutoff (iDFSO), software that cuts fuel to the engine while decelerating to increase gas mileage. In conjunction with iDFSO, a fuel-saver "ECO" indicator light is added to the instrument cluster. New standard equipment across the Liberty lineup includes front-row active head restraints, an air filtration system, stain-repellent seat fabric with premium seat trim, a fold-flat front passenger seat and larger floor mats.

Updates to the upscale Liberty Limited include UConnect, a front passenger express-up power window and heated power driver and front passenger leather seats with manual lumbar control. Heated manual-folding mirrors now come with the Liberty Sport, and Light Sandstone Metallic paint replaces Light Graystone as an exterior color option.

2010 Jeep Patriot: As with the 2010 Jeep Compass, the 2010 Patriot Sport 4x2 mates its 158-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a five-speed manual transmission, and adds driver and front passenger active head restraints to all Patriot models. Automatic climate control is now available on the five-passenger Patriot Limited, and remote start is added to the Security Group.

2010 Jeep Wrangler: For 2010, the Jeep Wrangler receives a more easily removable soft top. Standard features now include foglamps, tow hooks and a compass. Cloth seats replace vinyl ones in the base Wrangler Sport, while two-tone leather upholstery is now available on the Sahara and Rubicon. New wheels will arrive later in the 2010 model year.

Updated exterior paint colors include Dark Charcoal, Natural Green and Surf Blue. Discontinued colors include Detonator Yellow, Jeep Green Metallic Clear Coat and Sunburst Orange.

I have to shed a tear.  The '10 XK is the last year in the US for that vehicle.  I adore our '06 Hemi Limited.  I will be driving that one forever.  I do like the '06 chrome clad 17 inch wheels better than the chrome clad 18 inch casino wheels.  Deletion of the 4.7L is fine with me.  I have the 4.7L HO in our '02 Overland, and it is a fine motor, but I would take the 5.7L over any flavor of the 4.7L any day of the week.
