    Just the Facts:
    • Hennessey Performance is offering a twin-turbocharged 805-horsepower limited edition of the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8.
    • Hennessey plans to build only 24 copies of the 2013 HPE800 Twin-Turbo Jeep.
    • Prices start at $235,000.

SEALY, Texas — Wouldn't you open an e-mail that started out, "Ferrari FF: Eat my slush"? Turns out this particular pre-holiday press release comes from John Hennessey, whose Hennessey Performance Engineering is inviting prospects to check out the company's new 2013 HPE800 Twin-Turbo Jeep.

That's "Jeep" as in Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, which Hennessey will massage — with a pair of turbochargers, among other enhancements — to deliver 805 horsepower and 823 pound-feet of torque. The company says that's sufficient to propel this beauty from zero to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds. The quarter-mile takes a little longer: 10.9 seconds at 130 mph.

Among the tweaks, Hennessey increases the displacement of Chrysler's 6.4-liter Hemi V8 to 7.0 liters, then upgrades the transmission/torque converter, lowers the suspension and fits cross-drilled Brembo binders and 20-inch HPE alloy rims.

Exterior augmentation is subtle — Hennessey adds a carbon-fiber front lip spoiler. Inside, you'll find custom leather upholstery and an Alcantara-wrapped sport steering wheel.

Hennessey is asking $235,000 for starters, which includes the price of the basic Grand Cherokee SRT8 plus mods. Production is limited to just 24 copies.

Inside Line says: We're guessing that Mr. Hennessey had his tongue planted way back in his cheek when he wrote: "This vehicle is designed for the performance-minded driver who lives in Aspen or Moscow and wants to be the fastest in all weather conditions."

zr1man says: Not a good deal. You could own two ZR1s for the same price.

However if Hennessey charged $235,001 for a Vette, I'm sure it would be worth EVERY PENNY.

Only in a Jeep .... Think about it?

    J.M.O... I could be wrong.

You are only paying for the Hennessey name here with THAT price.

How much would it cost to pay some outfit to do all those mods for you?
I bet, overall, it would cost you about half what Hennessey wants.

But you can't go in the snow with a ZR1, or mud, or trails, or haul 4 people, or throw a days worth of garage sale things inside, or move to a new place, and that truck will spank your ZR1 anyway

Hennessey needs to go bigger than this...Slap a twin turbo 7.0L V8 into a Jeep Rubicon with 1000hp and sell it for 1.5million, which include a factory tour and exclusive dinner with the builder himself. A carbon fiber body kit is optional, of course, for another $500Gs. Limited to only 20 units. These will fly off the shelf!!! Call now!
