LE MANS, France — Jaguar plans to market a production version of the XKR Special that debuted last year at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
In an interview with PistonHeads.com, Jaguar Managing Director Mike O'Driscoll confirmed plans to build and sell a version of the 2009 Goodwood car, a prototype of which just lapped the Nordschileife circuit at the Nurburgring in less than 8 minutes.
O'Driscoll told the site that the new XKR derivative is "basically the production version" of the Goodwood car and that it would have a top speed of around 186 mph.
Last year's XKR Goodwood Special featured Jaguar's supercharged 5.0-liter V8, uprated to 523 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. The car also received a lowered suspension, 21-inch wheels and tires and a new four-tailpipe exhaust system.
Inside Line says: The sub-8-minute Nordschleife run should only enhance the XKR's performance credentials, especially with those tough German customers. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent

That color does the XKR no favors. It is normally a handsome car but with this wacky light Kermit-green paint job, the car suddenly looks very slab sided and plain.

8 minutes seems more likely when referring to times on the Nurburgring Nordschleife.

Ummmmm, 8 seconds? That must be one hell of a short track! Or maybe it was 8 minutes?
