    Just the Facts:
    • Jaguar's latest supercar stars in a new video released on YouTube.
    • The XKR-S is described by the company as "the fastest and most powerful production sports car Jaguar has ever built."
    • The XKR-S will go on sale in limited numbers this fall in the U.S.

COVENTRY, England — Jaguar has released a YouTube video of its new XKR-S, which the company describes as "the fastest and most powerful production sports car Jaguar has ever built."

The XKR-S was unveiled last week at the 2011 Geneva Auto Show.

The car's supercharged 5.0-liter V8 has been tuned to deliver 550 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque. The latest XKR-S can accelerate from zero to 60 in 4.2 seconds, with a top speed of 186 mph.

The latest XKR-S, which arrives this fall at U.S. dealers as a 2012 model, also gets a revised suspension and aerodynamic modifications.

In comparison, the legendary Jaguar XJ220 supercar, built in extremely small numbers from 1992-'94, featured a Tom Walkinshaw-prepped twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 that put out 542 hp and 476 lb-ft of torque. The XJ220 had a top speed of 217 mph, with 0-60 acceleration in 3.7 seconds.

Inside Line says: Stylistically, today's XKR-S looks a bit crude in comparison to the sleek Keith Helfet-designed XJ220. Presumably, it will be considerably less expensive. — Paul Lienert, Correspondent

I think the car's great ...except for the fact that it's an automatic.

While I don't like the wing, it's not terrible. And the rest of the car I dig.

Cursed be those who compare this to the XJ220.....

I really think people don't get it . . . for years, everyone lamented over the fact that Jaguar was a lost brand or a "old man's car" . . . now, Jaguar has evolved into an engaging, stylish performance car across their range. To keep the public engaged, and to promote both their performance heritage and direction, they have been accentuating their "R" Performance brand. The XKR-S goes further in this direction, and is awesome. I am so happy Jaguar "gets it" and will not allow themselves to be drawn back to the past. Excellent that they flatly rejected the Bertone B-99 retro nonsense, and want to push forward with Ian Callum's team's vision.

The XKR-S is no more flamboyant than a Maserati Gran Turismo MC Stradale . . it's limited production and is the highest performance variant. So, whether there is a wing or not, everyone needs to understand the specific purpose of the car. There are also a lot of practical reasons for the aerodynamics, including the wing. They have to create downforce and the XKR175 had about the biggest spoiler you could put on the car without it being ridiculous. They had to put a wing to increase the downforce so that the rear doesn't lift at high speeds now that they removed the speed limiter. I can't believe that "car guys" don't understand any of this.

Anyway, all I have to say is Go Jaguar . . . you guys are doing everything right. keep pushing the style with MODERN british flair, keep providing sick performance, keep providing owner assurance through a standard amazing warranty and maintenance program, and keep providing tremendous value over the competition.

Oh, and by the way, no - I do not work Jaguar/Land Rover, but I do own a Jaguar XFR that is my daily driver (even through the winter) and I have 24,000 miles on it. The car, the company, the service, the dealer are all spectacular.

Absolutely stunning, I love it. Reminds me of an Aston.

Lord.  What has happened?  A wing on a Jag.  It's a bloody wing.  And don't spout out garbage about the XJ220.  This is not a XJ220!

I suppose Jaguar wants to take over the slot being left by the Mitsu Evo.

Here's a brilliant idea; pop a third eye on Milla Jovovich.  Yes, that will work a treat.

    A wing.

No one wants a Jag styled by Holden. If I wanted a 500+hp Holden Monaro i'd i'mport one.
    This is B******T!!!
