LOS ANGELES — Jaguar has introduced the 2012 XKR-S Convertible, a companion to the XKR-S Coupe, priced at $138,000.

The drop top promises to be just as exclusive as the hardtop, which is sold out. Jaguar says it plans to sell only 25 copies of the 2012 XKR-S Convertible in the U.S.

The XKR-S Convertible is, according to the company, "the most powerful and fastest convertible Jaguar has ever built."

The car's supercharged 5.0-liter V8 makes 550 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque, which enables 0-60 acceleration in 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 186 mph.

Jaguar engineers have tightened things up plenty, too, upgrading the front and rear suspension, the brakes and the adaptive dynamics system. The car rides on Pirelli P Zero tires (255/35 ZR20 front, 295/30 ZR20 rear) mounted on 20-inch Vulcan alloy wheels, and sits 0.4 inch lower than the XKR Convertible.

Changes to the body are designed to reduce lift and enhance stability. They include a new front bumper with revised air intake, carbon-fiber splitter, rocker sills, rear diffuser and rear wing.

The cockpit is trimmed in leather, with a choice of dark aluminum or piano-black accents. Featured are 16-way performance seats, stainless-steel pedals and a multifunction three-spoke leather-wrapped heated steering wheel.

Inside Line says: Super quick, super sexy.

    outdated....ah, yes.

The front end looks pretty bad on a 130k car.

I'm a big fan of Jaguar and all but seriously,

The XK is outdated not to mention, all the "new" navigation systems from Jaguar are outdated.
