Available in both right- and left-hand drive, the XKR-S will be the fastest Jaguar since the ballyhooed XJ220, with its supercharged 4.2-liter V8 providing 0-60-mph acceleration in 4.9 seconds. The V8 gets a recalibrated engine management system and makes 420 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. Top speed is governed electronically to 174 mph.
The R-S edition of the XK coupe receives suspension and driveline modifications intended to enhance the already superb performance of the XKR, as well as exterior and interior upgrades befitting its more exalted status.
Jaguar has recalibrated the steering, springs, shocks, stabilizer bars and CATS electronic suspension. It has lowered the ride height and has fitted Alcon performance brakes and an active exhaust system. A six-speed sequential-shift automatic gearbox is shared with the XKR and employs paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
The exterior aero kit is comprised of a front air splitter, side sill extensions, a revised rear spoiler and rear fascia with integrated diffuser. The body is finished in Ultimate Black metallic paint and is further distinguished by a mesh grille and power vents. The XKR-S rides on 20-inch low-profile performance tires mounted on Vortex alloy wheels.
Inside, the car boasts charcoal leather upholstery with twin-needle ivory stitching, as well as piano-black veneer and such uplevel features as a Bowers & Wilkins 525-watt audio system.
