    What Is It?

    What's Special About It?

When Jaguar decided to build a 200-mph supercar concept, the carmaker thought it would be a hoot if it happened to be a cabriolet, hence this full-bore XKR, dubbed the XK-RS. To fulfill its desire for a Ferrari beater, it turned to Rocketsports Racing, who have had significant success campaigning an XKR on the Trans-Am circuit.

Engine mods included a bump in displacement to 5 liters as well as a Rocketsports valvetrain, Borla exhaust and a dry sump oiling system. The net result is an estimated 550 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. A five-speed manual gearbox takes care of delivering all that power to the rear wheels. Thus invigorated, the XK-RS is said to be able to hit 60 mph in under four seconds and blast on up to a top speed of 200 mph.

Of course, the suspension, brakes and body were gone over as well. High-performance shocks and springs, along with 20-inch Machiavelli Gotti wheels shod with fat Michelin Pilots (285s in front, 325s out back) allow 1.0g cornering capability. Massive 13-inch front, 12-inch rear Brembo brakes are charged with keeping this snarling cat under control. A full ground effects package is installed to keep the car planted at high speeds, and incorporates a deep front air dam as well as underbody air tunnels and a rear diffuser. A shadowy profile of Jaguar's "leaper" adorns the flanks of the XK-RS.

    What's Edmunds' Take?

We've always loved the looks of the XK Series, combining the classic lines of this car with world-class performance sounds like a fantastic idea to us. But for now, there are no plans to put the XK-RS into production. — John DiPietro
