The latest iteration of the XKR will boast a supercharged 4.2-liter V8 and specific design cues to distinguish it from the standard XKR. Mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox, the blown V8 is expected to generate close to 400 horsepower. There will be both coupe and convertible variants in R trim.
Jaguar's U.S. representative told Inside Line that the new XKR will be unveiled in August at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and then will make the rounds of regional auto shows this fall. Look for the first cars to arrive at U.S. dealers in December.
Jaguar said further information about specs and pricing will be available nearer the car's official launch.
What this means to you: The hot-rod edition of the XJ coupe and convertible joins the fray shortly.
