Like the XK coupe, the XK convertible will have an all-aluminum body for reduced weight and added stiffness, a notable upgrade given the current model's considerable weight and flexible body. Powerplants for the new droptop Jaguar will be identical to the coupe with a 4.4-liter V8 hooked to a six-speed automatic, the most likely combination for the standard model. Although it's likely to have more than 300 horsepower, Jaguar will also offer an XKR model with upwards of 400 hp.
Look for the debut of the convertible right along side the coupe at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
