- Brabus affiliate Startech upgrades the Jaguar XJ, just in time for Christmas.
- The Startech treatment includes subtle aero body add-ons.
- The XJ's cockpit can be customized with leather, Alcantara, wood veneers and piano-black trim.
BOTTROP, Germany — Kids, are you looking for the perfect stocking stuffer for Mom or Dad? Startech, an affiliate of German tuner Brabus, has just the right gift — a customized Jaguar XJ that has been subtly reworked inside and out.
Startech's aerodynamic add-ons for the XJ are relatively modest and include such modifications as larger front air intakes, side skirts and air outlets, rear lip spoiler and rear apron with integral diffuser shrouding a brace of stainless-steel exhaust pipes.
Startech fits its own 21-inch Monostar J Diamond Edition three-piece forged alloy wheels, wrapped in low-profile performance rubber — 255/35ZR21s in front and 295/30ZR21s in the rear.
The tuning house focuses much of its attention on the XJ's cockpit, where customers can select from a wide variety of leather, Alcantara, wood veneers and piano-black lacquered trim.
Options include powered rear tray tables in the front seatbacks, aluminum pedals, leather flooring, high-gloss polished stainless-steel scuff plates with illuminated Startech logo, leather-trimmed floor mats and a state-of-the-art multimedia system built around the Apple iPad, which gets its own custom-tailored storage niche and wireless keyboard.
Inside Line says: Guess we'll need a bigger stocking this year.

@gtrguy: Because style has always been subjective and, this might sound farfetched, some people might have differing opinions than you! For example, although it puts down good numbers, your beloved GT-R has not become everyone's sports car choice above $60000. Most people judge the car as a whole package rather than just style (XJ) or performance numbers (GT-R), the XJ has many faults such as a highly inferior and infuriating tech package, minuscule trunk, outdated power trains, unrefined ride (compared to germans, etc. that are very apparent once you have to live with it.

I like how the A8 and 7-series look, but this is much more attractive. This is the most helpful and least offensive 'pimp-my-ride' add-on that insideline has featured in a while...

Funny stocking stuffer coment, just like the Lexus ads giving cars for Chistmas like they were trinkets. Who the hell gives cars for Chistmas because I need to be adopted!

I'm really baffled by these tuning companies who do Jaguars. Most of what they do are Aesthetics only if not, supspension tuning while those who do Germans cars give them power boost up to 1000hp and not just a bodykit.
If you think about it though, I think tuning companies should leave performance alone. I mean, think about it if not, think about this statement:
"Instead of making these cars more powerful, why not make them more luxurious?"

Everytime I see one of these on the road, it makes me cringe thinking of the current pedantic state of German luxury car design.
The Audi A8, MB S-Class, and BMW 7-series...for god sakes...look like boring, ungainly versions of the cheaper cars in their respective lineups. Their evolutionary styling over the years shows no imagination.
The Panamera? Turn off the lights in the bedroom and maybe it starts looking hot.
These are cars designed for bankers, real estate agents, plastic surgeons...and made to pimped out by young, stupid money.
Thank goodness for the school of British luxury car design...even if there are no British car companies left.

I didn't think it was possible, but someone has made the new XJ even prettier.

OH MA GAWD BECKY LOOK AT HER BUTT.
Seriously, I have no idea why people choose the S-Class or 7-series or the god awful A8 over this.
