LOS ANGELES — Jaguar is introducing new Speed and Sport Packs for the XJ sedan at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.
The new Speed Pack for the 510-horsepower XJ Supersport bundles a front splitter, rear spoiler, red-painted brake calipers, black mesh radiator and side vent grilles, choice of 20-inch Venom or Mataiva alloy wheels and a jet-black interior with red contrast stitching.
The new Sport and Speed Pack for the 470-hp XJ Supercharged includes the same front splitter, rear spoiler, red-painted brake calipers, black mesh radiator and side vent grilles and 20-inch Venom wheels, as well as leather sport seats, stainless-steel pedals and piano black trim (carbon-fiber is an extra-cost option).
Jaguar said the additional aero body bits and a recalibrated ECU have enabled an increase in top speed from 155 to 174 mph, with no increase in engine output.
It said the new option packs are available on both standard and long-wheelbase versions of the XJ.
Jaguar also said the new 550-hp XKR-S convertible, a companion to the $132,000 XKR-S coupe that was unveiled earlier this year at the 2011 Geneva Auto Show, will debut in L.A.

cz_75,
Agreed. This car has none of the elegance/ class of the S class, 7 series or the A8. The rear end is just awful. Looks like an old man's car. The front lights are way too squished vs. the extremely large grille. Look at the size of that rear overhang/butt? The performance and weight of this car are impressive, but design - not my cup of tea.

Still think the C-pillar and tailight designs suck.

IL is a total failure when it comes to Jaguars.

WHEN are y'all going to get an XJ or ANY JAG for an Insideline Long Term Test?
Jag is seriously way overdue for a long term test.

Hell yeah! They could go for the new facelifted XF with the 2.2 liter turbo-diesel engine or they could go for the bigger V6 diesel.
I know it ain't a proper Jag engine but that's why they should go for it; to see if it is worthy. Also, I'd like to know how much they've improved in terms of reliability. I still hear a lot of horror stories even on the new ones and of course, compare it with the Long Term BMW 5.
The N/A V8 would be a nice choice as well as an N/A V8 XJ if possible. :)

"aguar said the additional aero body bits and a recalibrated ECU have enabled an increase in top speed from 155 to 174 mph, with no increase in engine output."
I think they just bumped the speed limiter up to 174mph. If a Lancer Evolution VIII FQ400 can top 175mpg, the supercharged Jag should get there without a sweat.

All cosmetic, should change package name to just Speed...Looks good though, wish it could have included some added hp increase
