- Jaguar will show its new XK concept at the Paris show in October.
- The concept is said to take Jag's design language to the next step.
- It is not thought to be a detailed hint at the future 2012 XK coupe and roadster.
LONDON — Jaguar will unveil a new XK coupe concept at the 2010 Paris Auto Show later this month. The concept is said to take the company's design language to the next step, according to British magazine Autocar, and also celebrates the company's 75th anniversary.
What it does not do is mark the 50th anniversary of the XK-E; the date to celebrate the spiritual successor for Jaguar's most famous car is a few years away.
The concept is not thought to be a detailed hint at the new XK coupe and roadster, which will be renewed in 2012, although it will signal messages about the next version's size, which is likely to increase in order to improve interior space for rear seat passengers in particular. That will clear the path for the smaller XKE-replacing sports car.
The concept will also be about demonstrating another step forward for the Jaguar look, which has now emphatically departed the retro look of the previous decade, as well as evolving a new-look grille for the sports car models.
The concept is also expected to showcase some of the hybrid technology that Jaguar is developing.

Jaguar doesn't need an SUV, they have Land Rover.
I hope they keep the traditional swift looks of the XK series vehicles. I DO like the muscular looks of the XF and XJ but I really would like the XK to be the car to stand with its heritage. Swift lines are ageless.

You know, I don't really think Jaguar should make SUVs. Tata has Land Rover and Range Rover. What's the point of a Jaguar SUV, which would inevitably be just a Land Rover re-badged as a Jaguar.
I think Jaguar is purely a car maker.

well yea it should be pretty easy to focus on their cars, giving that they have 3 avalible ? they are trying to keep in touch with the compainies you mentioned, so yes i think they are doing a good job so far but its time for them to make a nice SUV mid and full sized and make an affordable car for the mainstream like all the other companies have done.. thats the only way they will survive.

I love, love, love Jaguar. It's a company completely focused on a great car. BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and Porsche all make some good cars, but they're all too focused on niche markets and sales numbers. This is not to say that Jaguar is not interested in sales, it says that Jaguar is dedicated and passionate enough to make sure that every car made is amazing.
My 2010 XF 5.0 is awesome. As a mid-size luxury car, it defeats all competition. It's really just great. The noise is great, the looks are great, the power is ferocious, and the passion present.
I test drove the new XJ. Guess what I'm getting when my XF's lease ends? supercharged. yes. 470 hp. yes. long wheelbase yes.
The current XK is a good car. I'm sure the new XK will surpass all expectations. I'm sure it will surpass the new 6 series, the SL, and begin to compete with the Maserati Granturismo and Ferrari California.
And I'm sure the new XE will be the enthusiast's alternative to the SLK and Z4.
I can see Jaguar really moving up-market. I think eventually it will be a great competitor for Aston Martin and Maserati.
Bravo Jaguar. Mercedes, BMW, Audi... tsk... tsk...
