LONDON — A London hotel is now taking reservations for the $8,000-a-night Jaguar suite, designed in cooperation with Ian Callum, the marque's design director.
The pricey two-bedroom suite at 51 Buckingham Gate, Taj Suites and Residences, is said to be inspired by the classic Jaguar E-Type from the 1960s and the Jaguar C-X75 that debuted at the 2010 Paris Auto Show. India's Tata Group owns the hotel and Jaguar.
The reservation includes transportation in a chauffeured Jaguar XJ — plus breakfast.
Guests in the 1,832-foot Jaguar suite will be surrounded by historical Jaguar photographs, framed hood ornaments and a fireplace "referencing the shape of the brand's hallmark rear window," said the automaker in a statement.
Materials in the room are taken from Jaguar cars, including one wall covered in Italian leather.
The co-branding between the hotel and the automaker is just the latest example of so-called "affinity" marketing in the auto industry. Other memorable examples include the 2012 Fiat 500 by Gucci, the Lamborghini Murcielago Versace edition and the Victoria Beckham Range Rover Evoque.

What's this, a hotel room from jag-you-are? So the windows leak, the carpet is moldy, and the TV electrocutes you when you turn it on. But it's a looker!

Absolutely ridiculous. So they spiff up a one bedroom suite and hope someone foolish enough will put down the money to say they slept in such a room. Of course there will be a few people who can afford to waste their money on this theme-suite.
But I'm not surprised to see this as hotel rooms in London are way overpriced. Someone at Taj Suites knows they'll recoup their investment quickly and make a good profit on this room.
