    What is it?
    Isuzu Axiom XSF

    What's special about it?
Designed as the next evolution of the Isuzu's recently introduced Axiom, the XSF (or "excessive") wears a host of upgrades and add-ons that give it an even more distinctive look than its already head-turning production counterpart.

Starting with the exterior, the XSF gets a full-body makeover with the addition of front and rear air dams, rocker sills, integrated wheel arches and a rear spoiler. Up front, quad foglights, a revised grille and a hood with functional air intakes give the XSF an aggressive aftermarket-tuned appearance.

That bulge in the hood is more than just cosmetic. The standard 3.5-liter V6 has been upgraded with the addition of an AutoRotor supercharger that boosts output to a solid 275 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. A Laminova intercooler helps cool the intake charge while a Borla after-cat unit handles the exhaust.

The Eibach-tuned suspension features sport torsion bars and springs for a lower vehicle height, thicker sway bars and performance bushings. Four-piston Brembo brakes reside within 19-inch HRE polished aluminum alloy wheels. Pirelli Scorpion Zero cross-terrain tires are the finishing touch to the XSF's extensive suspension modifications.

Passengers are treated to leather-covered Recaro sport seats up front and a bolstered three-person bench seat in the rear. Aluminum sport pedals and body-color dash accents further contribute to the XSF's customized look.

    Why should you care?
Although the XSF wears some pretty exotic hardware, the majority of its performance and cosmetic enhancements are viable for production. If consumers respond enthusiastically during this year's auto shows, don't be surprised to see a production version of this pumped-up Axiom in the near future. — Ed Hellwig
