    Just the Facts:
    • The 2011 Infiniti QX56 will retain its body-on-frame architecture.
    • Prices will remain the same as for 2010 models.
    • The 2011 QX56 now delivers 400 hp, with a 10 percent increase in fuel economy versus the 2010 model.

NEW YORK — Despite months of speculation that the redesigned 2011 Infiniti QX56 would feature new unibody construction, the big SUV made its world debut at the 2010 New York Auto Show with traditional body-on-frame architecture.

The second-generation QX is scheduled to arrive in showrooms this summer. Infiniti said it will not raise prices on the 2011 QX56 2WD or QX56 4WD. The 2010 versions start at $57,565, including an $865 destination charge for the two-wheel-drive QX56 and $60,665, including shipping for the four-wheel-drive QX56.

The 2011 QX56 gets a 25 percent boost in horsepower, courtesy of tweaks to the 5.6-liter V8. In addition to now delivering 400 horsepower, the big SUV also gets a 10 percent increase in fuel economy versus the 2010 model, Infiniti said. The EPA says the 2010 Infiniti QX56 2WD model returns 12 mpg in city driving and 18 mpg on the highway.

The 2011 QX56 gets a new Hydraulic Body Motion Control System, which is optional on both versions as part of the deluxe touring package. The package also includes 22-inch wheels and tires. "The system helps reduce body lean while turning," Infiniti said.

I have had 2 QX's and I think the 2011 looks good except for the stupid fender vents. Based on research and data the vehicle should be a stand out in the competitive field. Good job Infiniti. I look forward to trading my 2010 in a year or so but lose the VENTS!!!

I think it looks good, like a large FX50, but more boxy.  I actually like the look of the previous model, so this is only an improvement to me.  Of course, a large SUV like this could never look like a G37, so that remark is ridiculous.  The fact that it gets better gas mileage with both higher torque and more horsepower is certainly a great design improvement and a welcome improvement for 2011.  NICE WORK FROM THE INFINITI ENGINEERS!  As a current QX56 Owner of a 2004 model, who loves it, I can't wait for a test drive.  It's 400 pounds less towing capacity shouldn't affect me, as long as I can still tow my boat, all my children and all their gear.  NICE WORK INFINITI!

YIKES!  Makes an Escalade or Navigator look tasteful.  Seems like the Japanese are reverting to their '70's sense of style, lots of add-on's, goofy shapes, overdone grills and treatments.  Look at a late 70's Toyota Celica or Cressida, Nissan (Datsun) Maxima or 200SX etc.  Really awful styling combined with 12 mpg; I see a discounted lease program in the near future.

I agree with carguy 622, those fender vents looks soo stupid and gaudy. Infiniti, you're better then that. Same to be said with the rest of the car, aside from the front fascia which looks like an evolution of the current QX56. The rear window looks confused, and the rear fascia looks to be upset with its appearance as its frowning.

I like the new QX, as I found the previous generation somewhat unplesant to the eye. It appears to be a true Swiss Army knife among luxury SUVs: safe, comfortable, and luxurious for daily use; capable and tough as nails (if one wants to chance it) for off road. I have wanted Nissan to bring some versoin of the Patrol to the States for years. My only disappointment is that they did not mention anything about a diesel-powered version. If Mercedes-Benz offers the BluTec (BlueTec?) diesel on its SUVs, how can Nissan not?

As the hybrid/electric cars are getting better and better by the month,

Why would Nissan/Infiniti come up with this type of engine?

These types of engines will go away soon!

12/18 mpg? That is so 2002!!

This is what happen when japanese designs vehicle. Amazing vehicles. Finally, nissan is actually letting the Japaneses design. not like before when they used to let the Americans design those hideous looking vehicles.
