    What is it?
    2011 Infiniti QX56

    What's special about it?
The 2011 Infiniti QX56 is a luxury SUV for buyers who don't particularly care what others think about their consumption of natural resources. You want eco-friendly features? Not really going to find them here. A hybrid version? Nope, it's V8 or nothing. Infiniti has basically pinned this QX's hopes on the remaining sliver of the luxury SUV market that just wants all the options and all the power they can get in an eight-passenger sport-utility.

And power they will have thanks to a direct-injection 5.6-liter V8 that delivers 400 horsepower. Matched here in the QX with a new seven-speed automatic transmission, the QX drivetrain delivers 25 percent more power and 10 percent better fuel mileage. So there — it is eco-friendly, sort of.

Two- and four-wheel-drive versions will be available and Infiniti says both will tow up to 8,500 pounds. Infiniti didn't go into much detail about the suspension setup, but we do know that it's a fully independent design that connects to an all-new platform. It will offer an optional Hydraulic Body Motion Control System that counteracts body roll, along with a set of 22-inch wheels and tires.

The cabin is stuffed to the roof with Infiniti's latest electronics. An 8-inch touchscreen display dominates the center stack. All of its various features are accessed by a central controller on the console including real-time weather and traffic, Bluetooth connectivity and a 13-speaker audio system. There's also a long list of alphabet systems like Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Distance Control Assist (DCA) for the cruise control and Forward Collision Warning (FCW). Basically, if Infiniti offers it, it's available on the QX.

And how much would you be willing to pay for all this? Infiniti says the 2WD model will start at $56,700, while the 4WD version will run $59,800 when the 2011 Infiniti QX56 goes on sale this summer. Both prices are essentially unchanged from the current model, so Infiniti has even thrown in a little value proposition for you. Not bad, if you're into this sort of thing.

Inside Line says: One last gasp for the big luxury SUV before government fuel-mileage requirements render vehicles like the 2011 Infiniti QX56 too costly to keep around.

Absolutely hideous.  Why does the foreign market Patrol look better?  Its like a G37 and a Land Cruiser got together and then headed to Target for some tack-on exterior accessories.  And while the dashboard looks nice, does anyone else see outdated 1990s looking door panels?

This is gorgeous!! Infiniti does a terrific job in keeping all their vehicles good looking and in tune with the company's overall design.  I'd take this anyday over the boxy, low quality GM suvs hands down. The interior is top-notch and it seems like it packs power.  I'd def take this for my family. Now Infiniti needs just bring back the Q already!!

This attracts my attention in all the wrong ways. From the side vents, to the huge grille, and then the shark (but came off as whale) headlights. They tried to pull off the sharklike styling but it was an epic fail. Also this SUV looks pretty boxy to me. It might have some curves around the fenders and bumpers, but it looks taller than a Suburban/ Yukon/ Escalade. A Yukon Denali over this thing anyday.

i may be one of the few who actually likes this suv. i really like the fact its not your typical "boxy" styling like on every other suv other than lexus. i could do away with the vents but name one suv in the luxury market that doesnt have one. but the main reason i would take it is the fact that it is a love-it-or-hate-it styled vehicle and i wont turn every corner and see the same one. i mean escalades, rovers, and X5s are as common as camarys now. rarity over popularity. just my opinion
