FRANKLIN, Tennessee — Infiniti released pricing today for its redesigned 2011 M sport sedan, now available with either a 3.7-liter or 5.6-liter engine. Nissan's luxury division has priced the rear-wheel-drive M37 at $46,250, and $48,400 for the all-wheel-drive M37x. The 420-horsepower V8-powered rear-wheel-drive M56 starts at $57,550; or $60,050 for the M56x with Infiniti's Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. All prices exclude Nissan's $865 delivery fee.

The V6-powered M37 receives a modest $450 increase for 2011, but also gains 27 horses with a 330-hp rating. Infiniti says fuel economy is also improved over the outgoing M35, but EPA ratings have not yet been released.

It's a much larger price jump from the 2010 M45 to the 2011 M56 — a whopping $5,400 leap. But Infiniti is taking great pains to point out that the content from the previously optional Premium package is now standard on the M56. The old package, a $3,350 value, adds a hard-drive navigation system with 8-inch color touchscreen, a Bose two-channel 10-speaker premium audio system, 9.3GB Music Box hard drive, streaming audio via Bluetooth, climate-controlled front seats, and a heated steering wheel to the M56's equipment list.

Additionally, the M56 also gets power-folding sideview mirrors, front door handle courtesy lights, active noise control, a standard rearview monitor, and an enhanced Intelligent Key, which now includes audio, navigation and climate control settings.

The 2011 Infiniti M goes on sale March 18.

Inside Line says: Combine the M56's new standard features with its additional 95 hp and you might not feel so bad about the significant price jump. — Kelly Toepke, News Editor

If the M37 had been available last year, I probably would have bought it instead of my Genesis V-8.  Sure, my Genesis has 45 more HP, but I don't really need my Genesis's 375 HP.

I like the Infiniti's styling, inside and outside and here in snowy Cleveland, the availability of AWD is a big plus - my Genesis is useless in the snow without a $1,000 set of snow tires.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Genesis - you won't find better bang for the buck anywhere in a full-sized V-6 or V-8 .

The M has to be a more refined vehicle than my 2007 G35, which was a bit rough around the edges.

What are these people smoking? 60K for an Infiniti??? Have they lost their minds????

I admit that the design is nice but I don't think it deserved a whopping $5,400 premium. So what that they have made premium features standard - why not make some of the features optional and reduce the price? I just don't think Infinitis are in par with BMWs and MBs.

The new M37 and M56 sedan is a jewel.  The price has risen though the technology and new features are also upgraded.  I love it.

For years infiniti has been one of the best buys on the market, people just sleep on them. They have always offered more features then the others. Remember the 2002 Q45, yes it was different. I want a car to stand out. 340hp and 1st with back up camera. The 2011 M56 is going to eat BMW for lunch.

The current M45 is already above 60K if you option it right. Price might have jumped but if you look at the options, it's still cheaper than a 5 series equipped with the same. I'm curious to see how well this will perform compared to the new 2011 550i. Definitely looks a lot better than the 5 series.

This is definitely worth the money. And magbarn of course they feel they can price their cars with bmw and mb. For many years infiniti has been right on bmw with everything,  and their interiors always are better than bmw's plastic.
    They been exceeded mb
Infiniti definitely deserves more props than they get.

    a $60k M56 has 420hp
    a $60k 550i has 360hp (2010 BTW)
    FYI

$60K 2011 550i with 402hp and much better torque at 450 lb feet at much lower revs due to Twin Turbo

    FYI

    nice power upgrade.

But I'm not sure what the Japanese car stylists have been thinking lately.

Acura ruined it's classy styling on some of the old cars with it's new models.

This new Infiniti does more of the same.  I want some sex appeal for 60k - and this cars lines are not that appealing to compete with the likes of the A6 and even new 5 series.
